Pickering Electronics SIL/SIP Single In-Line Reed Relays Carry Up To 3A Continuous Load Current

Posted on: 09/20/2022

Highest quality sputtered ruthenium contact switches for low level “dry” switching

Clacton-on-Sea, UK, 26 October 2021: Pickering Electronics UK is a leader in miniaturized and high performance reed relays with over 50 years of experience. Recently it announced the 100 HC series of high power SIL/SIP single in-line reed relays with a rated current of 1A, switching power up to 40W and continuous load current up to 3A. The 100 HC series relays use the highest quality instrument grade switches with sputtered ruthenium contacts for low level or “dry” switching applications.

Kevin Mallett, technologist at Pickering Electronics, explained the new product: “The 100 HC series has more than double the coil resistance of other similar products. For higher level pulsed current applications, continuous loads higher than 3A can be provided. current specification.”

The higher the coil resistance, the lower the heat generated. Therefore, HC series reed relays have good thermal EMF performance below 10μV.

The 100 HC Series High Power SIL/SIP Reed Relays feature an internal mu-metal magnetic shield to minimize problems caused by magnetic interactions due to tight packing. It also offers a choice of 5V, 12V or 24V coil voltages and optional internal diodes, as well as a choice of one or two switches in a single package.

The new high power SIL/SIP single in-line reed relays are suitable for high power applications and, in many cases, can replace mercury wetted reed relays.

About Pickering Electronics UK

Pickering Electronics has been in business for over 50 years and has been producing high quality reed relays for instrumentation and test equipment. Currently, Pickering’s single-in-line (SIL/SIP) series of relays are the most mature in the industry and are only a quarter the size of many competing products. These small single in-line reed relays are sold in large quantities to major ATE and semiconductor companies around the world.

Pickering Electronics is a subsidiary of the privately held Pickering Group. The Pickering Group consists of three electronics manufacturers that, in addition to Pickering Electronics, include Pickering Interfaces, which designs and manufactures modular signal switches and simulation products, and Pickering Connect, which designs and manufactures cables and connectors.
