GF partners with Synopsys to deliver first cloud-compliant and ASIL-D-ready automotive reference flow

Posted on: 09/25/2022

Co-launched process design kits and certified reference flows accelerate development of high-performance automotive, edge AI and 5G SoCs

GlobalFoundries™ (GF), a global leader in semiconductor manufacturing, and Synopsys (Nasdaq: SNPS) today announced that GF has certified two key Synopsys reference flows in its 22FDX™ process:

Synopsys’ Amazon Web Services (AWS)-based reference flow certification enables scalable execution of in-system testing, implementation, validation, timing, and physical signoff, enabling the creation of advanced technologies such as 5G mmWave, edge AI, and IoT in the cloud. Growth applications provide a seamless path.

The Automotive Reference Flow, which enables efficient development of ASIL D (Automotive Safety Integrity Level) compliant design components, is a first for the GF 22FDX process and helps accelerate ISO 26262 compliant products to market

Designing on the public cloud can overcome computing power bottlenecks and take advantage of dynamic scaling at all stages of design, so there are great advantages in speed and efficiency. The launch of the certified reference flow in the cloud is the result of years of close collaboration between GF and Synopsys on co-optimizing tools and methodologies to dramatically improve the power, performance and area (PPA) benefits of the GF 22FDX process.

This automotive reference flow supports ASIL-D designs on the GF 22FDX process, providing developers with a comprehensive set of solutions for functional safety analysis, implementation and verification of ADAS, powertrain, 5G and radar systems. This flow uses Synopsys’ RTL-to-GDSII autonomous functional safety design implementation solution and DesignWare? ARC? processor IP core.

“The reference flow for the GF 22FDX process is built for highly scalable workloads, validated on a fast, secure and efficient cloud infrastructure for multiple SoC applications. This can meet the growing computing demands of developers for design and verification, accelerating their innovation in the cloud.”

Avidan added, “For automotive design, the long-standing collaboration between Synopsys and GF provides the platform and IP cores necessary for seamless adoption of the 22FDX process in automotive designs. Deploying the industry’s first 22FDX automotive reference flow helps developers Achieve silicon success faster while meeting stringent ASIL and reliability goals.”

“The GF 22FDX platform, with its optimized performance, low power consumption, automotive-grade temperature capabilities and extensive feature integration capabilities, is the solution of choice for developers and innovators at the forefront of technology,” said Mark Ireland, VP Ecosystem and Design Solutions at GF. Program”. Our partnership with Synopsys makes it faster and easier for our customers to run innovative solution development on certified public clouds. GF has been conducting a series of design support cooperation with Synopsys to provide a better design platform for our customers. “
