Rohde & Schwarz and Quectel collaborate on Cellular-V2X test cases to accelerate 3GPP validation in the automotive industry

Rohde & Schwarz joined hands with Quectel to verify selected 3GPP test cases using the test system of the R&S CMW500 broadband wireless comprehensive tester and Quectel’s AG15 C-V2X module.

Cellular-V2X (C-V2X) is a key technology to improve road safety and accelerate autonomous driving in the coming years. Specifically, the C-V2X PC5 interface operating at 5.9 GHz can be used for direct, reliable, low-latency communication between vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V), vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I), and vehicle-to-pedestrian (V2P). In order for the automotive industry to deploy this technology in a timely manner, collaboration between suppliers within the industry has become increasingly important.

The test cases completed by Rohde & Schwarz and Quectel are suitable for major automotive companies to pre-validate 3GPP system performance in a timely and automated manner before entering the OMNIAIR or CATARC certification process. The test system provides a highly automated and flexible instrument configuration that meets the requirements of the automotive industry for C-V2X testing.

For existing customers, they are able to upgrade Rohde & Schwarz equipment with minimal additional investment.

Quectel’s AG15 is a vehicle-grade C-V2X module designed and manufactured according to the IATF 16949:2016 standard. This product is designed for use in extremely harsh environments and provides excellent ESD/EMI protection.
