On the 20th, BOE A responded to investor questions on its interactive platform, addressing issues related to LCD and flexible AMOLED businesses, among others. BOE stated that the prices of certain LCD TV products have seen a cumulative year-on-year increase of over 50%. In the second half of the year, the company will continue to implement its “on-demand production, dynamic production control” strategy.
Regarding the flexible AMOLED business, BOE expects the operational situation to continue improving. Furthermore, for VR/AR applications, BOE’s new 6th-generation semiconductor display production line in Beijing is expected to start production in 2025.
On the interactive platform, BOE A mentioned that in the first half of the year, top companies in the industry, including BOE, have been implementing the concept of “on-demand production and dynamic production control.” As a result, prices of LCD industry products began to rise since the first quarter, especially in a situation where demand recovery has been relatively slow. Even in August, LCD product prices continued to rise, with some LCD TV products seeing a cumulative year-on-year increase of over 50%. According to consulting agencies, prices for large-sized LCD TV panels are expected to continue a slight upward trend in September.
In the second half of the year, the company will persist in its “on-demand production, dynamic production control” strategy to maintain the industry’s healthy development.
Regarding flexible AMOLED, BOE A stated that in the first half of 2023, prices for products in the flexible AMOLED sector did not show a significant rebound. Coupled with short-term depreciation pressure on the company’s flexible AMOLED production lines, the flexible AMOLED business has not yet achieved profitability, but it has significantly reduced losses compared to the previous year. In the second half of the year, due to factors such as the concentrated release of new mobile devices by terminal brands, demand for smartphone panels is expected to grow compared to previous expectations.
Especially as flexible AMOLED technology penetrates smartphones to a large extent, the company’s flexible AMOLED product shipment volume will continue to grow significantly.
In the first half of the year, the company’s flexible AMOLED shipment volume exceeded 50 million units, and the annual target of 120 million units is steadily being achieved. With the continuous increase in shipment volume, it is expected that the operational performance of the company’s flexible AMOLED business will continue to improve.
Furthermore, BOE A also stated that the company’s Fast LCD display products and Micro OLED display products for VR/AR smart terminals have already achieved mass production and shipment. The 6th-generation new semiconductor display production line, which incorporates LTPO technology and was launched last year, is expected to start production in 2025. At that time, it will provide LTPO micro-display products to global brand customers to meet consumer demand for AR/VR/MR products.
