Power Integrations launches SCALE-iFlex Single plug-and-play gate driver for “new dual-channel” modules

San Jose, California, USA, September 9th, 2021-Power Integrations (NASDAQ: POWI), a well-known company that has been deeply involved in the field of gate drive technology for medium and high voltage inverter applications, today launched the popular “new dual channel” “100mm x 140mm IGBT moduleSCALE-iFlex™ Single Gate Driver. This compact new driver supports Modules with a withstand voltage of 3.3kV and is now available for supply at any time so that customers can complete the design introduction. SCALE-iFlex Single gate driver is very suitable for light rail, renewable energy power generation and other high-reliability applications that require compact, rugged driver solutions.

The SCALE-iFlex Single gate driver uses Power Integrations’ SCALE-2™ ASIC technology, which greatly reduces the number of components compared with traditional products. ASIC can also provide advanced active clamp (AAC) over-voltage protection during normal operation, which is a great improvement over simple soft turn-off, and can add additional protection when a short Circuit occurs during turn-on. This product has been treated with three-proof paint to provide reinforced insulation. When the modules are installed side by side, the isolated enclosure can ensure the insulation safety between the modules. These devices have passed the pre-certification of the rail standards IEC 61373-Class 1B (shock and vibration), IEC 61000-4-x (EMC test) and IEC 60068-2-x (a series of environmental tests). In addition, aging test options are also available.

The rated peak output current of the new gate driver at 85°C ambient temperature and no air cooling is 20A per channel, and the rated power is 1.5W MAG per channel (module adapted gate driver). Higher power levels can be achieved by providing air cooling or at lower ambient temperatures. In addition, there are electrical and optical fiber interfaces to choose from.
