MALVERN, Pennsylvania – August 18, 2021 – Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) today introduced a new fast-acting thin-film chip fuse, the MFU 0603 AT. The Vishay Beyschlag MFU 0603 AT is AEC-Q200 qualified and rated from 0.5 A to 5.0 A for a variety of automotive applications.
In addition to light-load circuit protection, the devices announced today can also be used for voltage detection circuit protection in electric (EV) and hybrid (HEV) automotive battery management systems. The fuse’s highly controlled thin-film manufacturing process ensures extremely stable fusing characteristics in these applications.
The MFU 0603 AT has a robust design with a homogeneous metal alloy film deposited on the surface of a high-grade ceramic substrate and the fuses are coated with electrical, mechanical and weather protection. The high sulfur resistance of the device meets the ASTM B 809 standard, and has undergone 1,000 hours of temperature and humidity bias testing and thermal shock testing at 85 °C / 85 % relative humidity.
The fuse is frame size 0603, rated up to 63 V, has a breaking capacity of 50 A, and has an operating temperature range of -55 °C to +125 °C. The fuses are RoHS and Vishay Green compliant, halogen free, and suitable for automated SMD assembly system processing, as well as wave, reflow or vapor phase automated soldering.
Samples and production quantities of the MFU 0603-FF AT are available now, with lead times of 10 to 14 weeks.
