DC contactor

Posted on: 11/22/2021

A DC contactor refers to a contactor whose iron core is DC controlled, and its load can be either DC or AC. The iron core of the DC contactor is different from the AC contactor. It has no eddy current, so it is generally made of mild steel or industrial pure iron in a round shape. Since the attracting coil of the DC contactor is energized with DC, there is no impulsive starting current and no violent impact of the iron core. Therefore, it has a long life and is suitable for frequent start and stop occasions. The selection of AC and DC contactors can be found in the electrical product catalog according to the working voltage and current of the line.

1. Working principle of DC contactor

When the contactor coil is energized, the coil current generates a magnetic field, which causes the static iron core to generate electromagnetic attraction to attract the moving iron core, and drive the contact action: the normally closed contact is disconnected, and the normally open contact is closed. The two are linked. When the coil is de-energized, the electromagnetic attraction disappears, and the armature is released under the action of the release spring to restore the contacts: the normally open contact is disconnected, and the normally closed contact is closed.

2. Wiring diagram of DC contactor

The DC contactor adopts a modular design, which can assemble the number of contacts required by the customer and the contact form (normally open, normally closed and conversion) required by the customer with the least parts; the series of products have high contact breaking voltage , And adopts horizontal blowing magnetic field to extinguish the arc, the highest breaking voltage can reach 220VDC. The product is suitable for program-controlled power supply or uninterruptible power supply system, forklift, electric vehicle, engineering machinery system.

3. The role of DC contactor

DC contactor refers to a contactor used in the DC Circuit, which is mainly used to control the DC circuit (main circuit, control circuit, excitation circuit, etc.). The iron core of the DC contactor is different from the AC contactor. It has no eddy current, so it is generally made of mild steel or industrial pure iron in a round shape. Since the attracting coil of the DC contactor is energized with DC, there is no impulsive starting current, and there is no violent impact on the iron core, so it has a long life and is suitable for frequent start and stop occasions. The selection of AC and DC contactors can be found in the electrical product catalog according to the working voltage and current of the line.

The DC contactor is mainly used for remote connection and disconnection of DC Circuits, as well as for frequent starting, stopping, reverse rotation and reverse braking of DC motors.
